Nicola and Matt’s dream outback elopement

Nicola and Matt’s dream outback elopement
October 3, 2016 Sandra Henri

Fulfilling their dream to trip around Australia, this laid back couple decided to sneak their wedding into the middle of it.  Whilst in the Kimberleys, Nicola and Matt eloped in the outback. Not ones for the limelight or the stress and expense of a ‘perfect’ wedding, they were always keen on this alternative and were happy to marry with minimal planning.

They decided on diverse El Questro Resort that totals a whopping 1 million acres in size for their venue. They said their vows at Pigeon Hole Lookout to a devastatingly beautiful backdrop with local celebrant Judy Hughes and a few witnesses.

It was a deliciously relaxed process for the pair who had no expectations about how their day should be. Breanne from El Questro generously gave them access to their private Zeebeedee Springs before it opened to the public in the morning.  After the ceremony, the couple had photos taken along the red dusty road. Nicola wore an adventurous white gown by Spell Designs that captured the dust superbly. They are both ‘young at heart’ and seeing this couple revel in their love and the journey they’ve taken together shows their simple exuberance. Nicola’s bouquet was made locally by Oria Orchards and her hair and make-up was by Hair and Beauty Retreat. Tourist traffic would stop to congratulate them and seemed as excited as they were. A highlight was a tour bus driving past with everyone hanging out the window cheering them on.

Living out of one car for nearly 4 months, sleeping in a tent and surviving the extremes of the outback created a love of less. When they returned home they had a big clean out of wardrobes and donated to their local Salvation Army. How they view food has changed- they source seasonal fruit and veg from local farmers markets and suppliers. As Nicola says, ‘this means (to us) appreciating what you have and enjoying the little things in life that truly matter.’

We wish these former high school sweethearts now husband and wife a full and juicy life. You are so damn cute. Thanks for sharing your lovely day with us.
