Jo hobbled along with a sore ankle, balancing pizza and movies when a guy stopped to ask her if she needed any help. She’d left her car on a street that sounded like the name of a German soup and was lost. This meeting between strangers lead to dinner which lead to a relationship, now a marriage.

There is something beautiful about letting life unfold, those unpredictable delicate moments of surprise as life leads you. This couple honour this way of living, Jo relishing in the butterfly present as she walked down the aisle.

Arj’s mother secretively stitched her late husband’s signature design on the inside of Jo’s dress (an elegant, re-wearable number made by Sydney based Ginny and Jude Designs). Arj didn’t discover it until after the ceremony symbolic of his father’s presence in spirit. Jo wears a rough diamond engagement ring representing the pair’s grit and love of nature, coupled with second hand wedding rings. The floral artworks were created by Dear Clementine.

The couple, both vegetarians wanted to celebrate with a minimal impact vegetarian menu catered for by Horizons at Killcare SLSC. With 50% of Australia’s greenhouse gas emissions coming from animal agriculture, eating less meat means less heat in the environment.

Laughter, mutual respect and team work sum up this couple and their day. Family and friends pulled together to help with set up and errands; Sandra Henri Photography caught the funny moments including when Jo’s dad monkey gripped her and spun around on the dance floor. It’s the simple things in life that this couple appreciate most.
